"The desire to construct a tangible product of the highest quality is a powerful motivator for students, especially when that product has both intrinsic value for the students and value to an authentic external audience. Only when they sense the relevance and authenticity of classroom work will most students commit to the very real labor of learning."
(Terry Roberts, NPC)

Teaching History and Government via the Paideia Project

Are you searching for a way to make History come alive for your students? Would you like to find out how to make Government relevant for those who seem impossible to motivate? Join us as we work together to plan Paideia Projects that make government and history both real and relevant.

The Paideia Project is a three column unit of study that leads to a student production or performance of real value to an audience outside the classroom.

It is constructed specifically to create relevant classroom work that connects the standardized curriculum to the real world that your students live in.

This Institute is designed for teachers who teach some form of History or Government as part of their curriculum. Expect to learn a replicable planning process while working on a unit of your choice tailored to your classroom.

Our goal is to prepare you to plan, lead, and assess Paideia Projects as a regular part of your History or Government classroom, thereby making the work that you require relevant for your students.

Ultimately, Projects engage students in a focused and authentic way, learning the work habits that will last them a lifetime.
