Teaching Math-Science
via the Paideia Seminar

Would you like to help even your most unmotivated students understand and remember the fundamental ideas of math and science?

The Paideia Seminar is a formal, intellectual dialogue facilitated with open-ended questions about a text. It is one of the most powerful ways to teach the fundamental ideas of math and science, thereby making your curriculum both more accessible and more relevant for your students.

The Seminar is designed specifically to teach your students to think critically while simultaneously enhancing their problem solving skills. By engaging in seminar discussion, students also practice a wide range of fundamental literacy skills: reading and writing in addition to speaking and listening. In this way, they can develop fluency with math and science vocabulary, while learning to think like mathematicians and scientists.

This Institute is for K-12 teachers who are interested specifically in finding ways to teach math and science more effectively. This training will prepare you to plan lead, and assess Paideia Seminars in your specific school environment.
