"The desire to construct a tangible product of the highest quality is a powerful motivator for students, especially when that product has both intrinsic value for the students and value to an authentic external audience. Only when they sense the relevance and authenticity of classroom work will most students commit to the very real labor of learning."
(Terry Roberts, NPC)

Paideia Project Design and Performance Assessment

Would you like to design units of study that make your standards relevant for your students?

The Paideia Project is a thematic unit designed to support student mastery of concepts, skills, and facts. Culminating in a product and/or performance, The Paideia Project motivates students by connecting curriculum standards with the real world.

For teachers, The Paideia Project provides a framework for analyzing curriculum, as well as strategically aligning instructional and assessment activities.

This Institute is for K-12 teachers, across all subject areas, interested in creating comprehensive units to engage students in coherent and compelling academic study. Built on differentiated intellectual coaching, The Paideia Project, includes continuous, authentic assessment and is particularly useful for teachers of the new North Carolina Senior Project.
