"In general, the review of a cross-section of student performance in the academic areas of reading, language, math, science, and social studies revealed a considerable and positive difference in the average national percentile score for students in grades 3-8 that attended CSAS as opposed to their grade-peers in other Hamilton County schools. PAIDEIA PROOF: Research Findings

Paideia schools are known for their capacity to significantly improve the educational experience of students. Research documenting Paideia's impact dates from the mid-1980's. Early studies, based on schools in Chicago, Cincinnati, and Chattanooga, suggest that Paideia reform has an effect on the climate of the classroom and school, increasing both student and teacher interest in academic study and democratic self-governance. More recent research efforts have corroborated these assertions, also adding new conclusions regarding the program's influence on academic achievement and social development.

Areas of Paideia results include:

  1. Student Motivation
  2. Teacher Development
  3. Student Achievement
  4. School Culture

It is important to note that the four areas of research findings on this site represent a wide range that looks at the ongoing development of teachers and students alike. In essence, the term Paideia has to do with the lifelong development of the whole human being and the research on The Paideia Program reflects this holistic approach.
