WHOLE-SCHOOL PAIDEIA IMPLEMENTATION
The National Paideia Center offers a site-based, whole-school implementation experience that is custom-designed to the unique needs of individual schools. Successful implementation of the Paideia Program begins with a period of inquiry and preparation, followed by three annual cycles of training and technical assistance. Each of these three "phases" is typically designed to correspond with three successive academic years. Schools interested in this level of comprehensive training proceed through:
PHASE I: The Paideia Seminar PHASE II: The Paideia Coached Project PHASE III: Paideia Assessment Practices
Paideia training and technical support activities are conducted by teams comprised of National Paideia Center staff and Paideia National Faculty.
SINGLE-EVENT PAIDEIA TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES
For schools interested in a smaller scale of implementation, The National Paideia Center offers training on-site for groups, grade level teams, or content area departments. This type of experience provides focused training in the Paideia Seminar or the Paideia Coached Project without ongoing technical support visits throughout the school year. Two, or preferably three, full days should be allowed for this training. A one-day introduction to the Seminar is also available. Find information to begin the process of scheduling a single-event training here.
INSTITUTES
Introductory and Advanced Seminar institues, as well as Intellectual Coaching and Paideia Coached Project institutes, are offered four times throughout the year at three sites across North Carolina: Asheville, Chapel Hill, and Wilmington. These institutes are two days in length and allow individuals to select an area of Paideia instruction for in-depth study with NPC staff members. Visit the Events section of our Web site for more complete information and registration materials.
Cost of implementation varies based on size and location of schools. Please contact the National Paideia Center at 919-962 3128 for more information about implementation options and fees.
NATIONAL PAIDEIA FACULTY MEMBERS
National Paideia Faculty members provide an integral part of the Paideia Center’s work in schools. Selected because of their wide variety of roles as teachers and leaders in Paideia schools across the country, the faculty is actively involved in Paideia training and ongoing technical support in schools that are implementing Paideia philosophy and practices. We are fortunate to have access to such a wealth of experience.
