INQUIRY AND PREPARATION

OBJECTIVES of Inquiry and Preparation are to:

  • Familiarize school and district staff about the Paideia Program
  • Determine feasibility of implementation (including faculty support)
  • Develop a site-based Paideia Leadership Team
  • Join a national network of Paideia practitioners
  • Observe and experience Paideia-in-action

Here is a TYPICAL CALENDAR for this pre-implementation period:

WINTER
Initial Inquiry:
Information Packet and School-based Presentation by Paideia Staff

Site Visit:
School/district staff tour a successful Paideia School

Seminar Institute:                                                                                                                                             Selected school leaders (both administrators and lead teachers) attend a two-day Seminar institute in North Carolina.  Visit the "Events" section of this Web site for more information.

 


SPRING
Annual Paideia Conference:
School selects and sends a Paideia Leadership Team.  Visit the "Events" section of this Web site for information about this year's conference. 

Readiness Visit:
NPC staff conduct faculty/staff surveys, meetings with principal/departments/Paideia Leadership Team/PTA and community, demonstration Paideia Seminar with faculty

Materials Purchase:
Books and Materials available from National Paideia Center and related vendors.  Visit the Products section of our Web site for a complete listing.


SUMMER
Paideia Implementation and Leadership Institutes:
Held at University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, these two institutes are required for those educators planning whole-school implementation.  Visit the "Events" section of this Web site for information about these and other institutes.
