PHASE I
Initial Implementation of the Paideia Seminar

OBJECTIVES of Paideia Phase I are to:

  • Identify characteristics of a Paideia classroom
  • Experience the Paideia Seminar as both a participant and a facilitator
  • Generate seminar plans for practical use throughout the school
  • Identify and begin using tools for assessing the Paideia Seminar

Outcomes for Paideia Phase I implementation: Improved literacy skills among students and faculty through consistent use of Paideia Seminar.

Here is a TYPICAL CALENDAR for Phase I implementation of the Paideia Program:

FALL-SPRING

Phase I Implementation Training:
18 hours of training (3 days on-site) for full faculty/staff
Monthly Technical Support (6-8 on-site visits by Paideia training staff)

Annual Paideia Conference:
School selects and sends a team


SUMMER
Paideia Implementation and Leadership Institutes:
Held at University of North Carolina in anticipation of Year Two of whole-school implementation.
