The National Paideia Center

For Principals

We realize that the individual school community is often the most effective unit of change in transforming education. Because of that, we know that the school leader is one of the most important roles in creating sustainable reform. To that end, we offer the following information and materials to assist you in planning and implementing the Paideia Program in your school. We invite you to take advantage of these resources and to contact us personally as you work to make your school the best it can be.

Our school is interested in the Paideia model, but we have opposition concerning assessment. Could you direct me to a portion of your website or other information that will help me dispel any concerns in this area?

  2. We talk about classroom level assessment within the Paideia Seminar and Project manuals and institutes. In short, we advocate formative as much as summative, and student self assessment as much as teacher’s judgment.

I am very interested in learning more about the Paideia model. Would you please let me know of any seminars that will be coming to North Carolina?
