The staff of the National Paideia Center designed these books so that you may learn about the Paideia Seminar, Paideia Project, and authentic Assessment. First, we offer these manuals for you to use during guided study, perhaps lead by an experienced Paideia educatior. Second, we offer these manuals as stand-alone texts for those educators who are interested in one or more aspects of the Paideia classroom but who don’t have access to formal Paideia training.
The Paideia Seminar: Active Thinking through Dialogue
The seminar training manuals, entitled The Paideia Seminar: Active Thinking through Dialogue are comprehensive introductions to the theory and practice of Paideia Seminar: one for elementary teachers and administrators (grade K-5) and the second for secondary teachers and administrators (grade 6-12).
The Paideia Project
The Paideia Project is a thorough introduction to two aspects of “coaching” in the Paideia Classroom: the facilitation of intellectual skill development and the creation of the coached project, a re-design of a traditional unit into a powerful interactive experience leading to authentic products and performances.
